RENATO DULBECCO MEMORIAL AWARD
Renato Dulbecco (February 22, 1914 β February 19, 2012) was an Italian-American virologist and Nobel Laureate (1975) in Physiology or Medicine for his pioneering work on oncoviruses β viruses that cause cancer in animal cells.
π Born in Italy, Dulbecco worked alongside eminent scientists like Howard Temin and David Baltimore. Their research in the 1950s on virus cultivation revolutionized cancer biology. He passed away in 2012 in La Jolla, California.
